👩‍🏫 What is estar?

Estar also means “to be,” like ser. But we use estar to talk about how we feel and where we are.

Think:
🧠 Ser = What you are
💛 Estar = How and where you are

💞 Cultural Connection

In Colombia, people often ask: ¿Cómo estás? (How are you?) — even when meeting for the first time. It's a sign of warmth and interest. You’ll hear answers like:

  • Estoy bien, gracias.

  • Estoy cansado, pero feliz.

Learning estar helps you connect emotionally — and that's the Latin way!
